Habit Cues for Wellness | List of Cues |

Habit cues are triggers that begin a routine in your life that has become a habit.  The most common type of cues are:

  • The time of day - a specific time of day triggers a routine / habit.
  • Location - Being in a location begins a routine / habit.
  • Emotional State - Certain feelings can trigger a habit.  High stress, boredom, being overwhelmed, anticipation can trigger a habit.
  • People - A specific person can trigger a habit.
  • Hunger signal - The feeling of hunger can trigger a habit. 
  • Thoughts and Beliefs - A specific thought can trigger a habit.
For wellness detoxes, clients must look at each habit and figure out the cues that trigger their behaviour.  Once the cue is figured out, a new habit may be added to the cue.  

The easiest way to figure out the cues are to keep track of your day in a journal and focus on the Cue - Habit - Reward of each of your day's activities.
